Thanks so much for posting those two clips as they were awesome. I took part in that festival about 5 years ago with Mr Tamura , the kite maniac !. It was a great experience that I'll never forget, I cycled out to Shirone to visit the kite museum and to watch the festival but before I knew it I was wearing a happy coat and part of a team !.

I lived in Shirone from 1993-95 and was able to participate in two Kite Festivals. I am working on a blog post about the Festival for a blog I do in Houston. Any chance you have any still pictures of the festival I could use? Kites in flight? Kite size compared to a human? Thanks..
